Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis
No matter the season, unwanted hair can always be a pain
Shaving and waxing is a short-term fix that costs money and time and can still produce unsightly ingrown hairs.
The staff at Columbia Skin Clinic are specialists in permanent hair removal. We utilize multiple methods, including laser hair removal and electrolysis, to achieve the touchably smooth skin year-round.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a procedure that sends an intense pulsating beam of light into the hair follicle, killing the root and inhibiting future hair growth.
While laser hair removal effectively slows down hair growth, it doesn’t guarantee permanent hair removal. It typically takes a series of treatments to target the various stages of hair growth and provide an extended hair-free period. Periodic maintenance treatments may be needed.
The best candidates for laser hair removal have hair that is darker than his or her skin tone. A dermatologist can consult with you to determine if laser hair removal is an ideal option.
As the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal, electrolysis is effective in removing hair regardless of heredity, metabolic or hormonal conditions.
Electrolysis works for all skin types, hair types, skin colors, hair colors and areas of the body.
During treatment, a small electric current is transmitted by a fine, sterile probe directly into the hair follicle, destroying its growth center using heat or chemical energy. Then the hair is removed with tweezers.
Immediately following treatment, redness or tenderness may temporarily occur. The electrologist will provide you with post treatment instructions and any personal attention you may need.
