Do you pencil in your brows daily due to years of over-plucking? Do you suffer from thinning hair or hair loss? Do you want to make your daily makeup routine shorter? Whatever your concerns about your eyebrows, microblading may be right for you. Eyebrows can make a dramatic change in your overall appearance. Having the correct brow-shape and color for your face can improve your look and boost your self-confidence.

Still not sure about microblading? Let’s start with the basics.

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure that is carried out by a qualified technician using a state-of-the-art hand tool. This tool houses sharp needles positioned in a way that resembles and functions like a blade. Tiny, precise, hair-like strokes are created by hand, mimicking the natural direction and length of your eyebrows. Pigment is deposited into the superficial dermis of the skin with a disposable micro-blade. Microblading produces incredibly natural-looking, contoured brows that can be customized based on your skin tone and hair color. This helps eyebrows appear thicker and more defined.

How long will it last?

Microblading is often referred to as semi-permanent and can last up to two years. Results will vary depending on the individual and his or her reaction to the ink. Most technicians recommend coming in for a touch-up of the color and shape every six months. The first session is an initial test to see how the brows will respond and determine what tweaks need to be made next time.

Does microblading hurt?

Before the procedure, a numbing agent will be applied to your eyebrow area. You should not feel any discomfort during microblading once the numbing cream is active.

What should I expect after microblading?

Microblading has a two-week aftercare plan. Once your treatment is complete, you will notice your brow area will be 20-30% darker than the color you have chosen. Don’t worry; this darker color will soon fade. Your new brows will often soften and peel, either lightly or in chunks. The color may look like it has disappeared before it returns, revealing your chosen color.

You’ll want to keep your eyebrow area clear of any oil build-up and well moisturized for the best results.

What is the difference between tattooing and microblading eyebrows?

Tattooing eyebrows, also known as micropigmentation, deposits pigment deeper into the dermis of the skin. Because it is deeper, micropigmentation can last up to eight years. Microblading gives a more natural, hair-like appearance when compared to tattooing or micropigmentation. Color will begin to fade with both procedures.
