About the Award
The Free Times’ Best of Columbia contest began in 1989, making it the longest-running reader’s choice contest in the Midlands. There are over 300 categories with more than 1,200 finalists. One winner, one runner up and at least two honorable mentions are awarded in each category. Winners are selected by the highest number of votes tallied within each category. One vote is counted per email address and per category, and all email addresses are verified. The Post and Courier Columbia / Free Times is the largest and most-read weekly publication serving Columbia and surrounding Richland and Lexington counties.
